Privacy policy

This policy covers Baseline: Calories & Macros, previously called FoodSum, made by Jeremy Butler.

The short version: Baseline 2.0 and later collects no data. It has no account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no server. Everything you enter stays on your device.

What the app stores

Your age, sex, height, weight, body fat, activity level, goal and macro plan are saved on your device so the app can work out your targets. Widgets read the same data on the same device. None of it is sent to me or to anyone else.

If you delete the app, or tap Start over in Settings, this data is removed.

Apple Health

Connecting Apple Health is optional. If you allow it, Baseline reads your weight, height, body fat, date of birth and biological sex to fill in your details, and, with Baseline Plus, to keep them up to date. Baseline never writes to Apple Health. Health data is read on your device, isn't used for advertising, and never leaves your device.

You can turn off access at any time in the Health app or in Settings > Health.

Purchases

Baseline Plus is a one-time in-app purchase handled by Apple. I don't receive your payment details or your Apple Account information. The app checks your App Store purchase history on your device to unlock Plus, including tips you left in FoodSum.

Feedback emails

If you email me from the app, I receive your email address and whatever you write. I only use it to reply to you, and I don't share it.

This website

This website uses no cookies, analytics or trackers. It's hosted on Cloudflare, which processes standard request data such as IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.

Earlier versions of FoodSum

FoodSum 1.x, released before Baseline 2.0, used these third-party services:

If you still use FoodSum 1.x, these services may collect device information such as your IP address, device model, operating system version and app usage. Updating to Baseline 2.0 removes them.

Children's privacy

Baseline doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, I'll post the new version on this page.
